“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.” – Coco Chanel

Le Monochromatic was born from a desire to join the burgeoning virtual fashion arena and take part in the vibrant discourse on fashion and style. I began by showcasing my personal style, interspersed with that of others, along with musings, observations, commentary, profiles, mentions and criticism on all matters of fashion and style. However, through this exercise, I gradually found more pleasure acting as an observer of fashion and personal style rather than a subject, as I grew intrigued by the nature,  complexities, inner workings, paradigms, and influences of these divergent yet buddy “philosophies”,  for lack of a better word.

Nowadays, when I think of fashion and style, I ask myself an infinite number of questions, and constantly wonder about fashion’s influence in film, its disputed standing as art, its sociological and cultural implications, and the psychological foundations of style. Fashion certainly isn’t frivolous as some will have you believe, and Le Monochromatic will serve as a virtual platform to ask these questions in order to move the reflection from the private sphere to the blogosphere, and render it interactive rather than static. This of course, with fun and inspiring snippets of fashion and style thrown into the mix for good measure, since at the end of the day, fashion should be just that: fun! So please, join in on the discussion. Let’s make it titillating!

Sincerely,

Katia
